Emerging Leaders

Our purpose is to continue the development of the Massachusetts Airport Management Association by establishing a pipeline which engages young professionals under the age of 35, or those with less than 10 years experience, and strengthens their commitment to becoming the next MAMA leaders. The Emerging Leaders Committee serves the Board of Directors to spread the message and goals of MAMA as an organization.

Mission

The MAMA Emerging Leaders serves to support and develop leaders under the age of 35 or those with less than 10 years experience in the aviation industry. Our mission is to cultivate future MAMA leaders through knowledge sharing, educational opportunities, networking, and mentorship.

Committee Liaisons:

David Dinneen (MAMA Board Member)
Natalie Pavelock (MAMA Board Member)

Operating Guidelines

1. Committee Liaisons
  • There will be two committee liaisons serving as a conduit between the Emerging Leaders and the MAMA Board of Directors. At least one liaison position must be held by an individual employed by an airport. The liaison must serve on the Board of Directors.
2. Committee Chairs
  • Chair terms: 12 consecutive months unless otherwise determined.
  • Elections: The Emerging Leaders will elect chairs through a nominating process and vote. New Chairs will be announced at the MAMA Annual Conference.
  • Chairs of the Emerging Leaders are not considered voting members at Board of Director meetings.
3. Meetings
  • Location: Monthly Emerging Leader meetings will be held virtually. The Emerging Leaders will aim to hold in-person gatherings at most quarterly.
  • Monthly Meeting Agenda: Each month a different member will be selected to plan and lead a future meeting. The selected individual must develop a meeting agenda to include a guest speaker. Monthly meetings should function as such that committee members feel enticed to engage and participate in discussions.
  • Guest Speakers: Presenters or guest speakers are not limited to only MAMA members. For example, individuals from the FAA and the aviation business community can be invited as guests.
  • Emerging leaders Chair and Vice Chair will attend monthly Board of Director meetings and quarterly MAMA meetings to provide a briefing of the meetings to the Emerging Leaders.
4. Students
  • The Emerging Leaders is open to students for participation. However, students are not eligible to serve as committee chairs.
  • Students are able to participate on subcommittees within the Emerging Leaders.
